I know LEOs personaly who drink and drive, EVEN in their patrol cars. AND on duty. Hard to believe, but it's true. Not sure there is anything can be done about it. Really sucks.
One was found ON DUTY parked in a local speed trap hiding spot, passed out drunk. They coudn't get him to answer on the radio, and when he did, he was hard to understand.
He did NOT get fired. Placed on leave with pay. 2 weeks. Came back and did it again. He was given the chance to go to rehab without pay and then report BACK TO DUTY upon completion of a rehab stint.
HE REFUSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only then was he fired.
