My son Mark just sent me these 2 photos from Nizhniy Novgorod, Russia...they are taken at the same place...one day clear, the next day smoky...

He went from Moscow to Vladimir to Nizhniy Novgorod to Kazan, and he will be returning to Moscow tomorrow...he said it is the same everywhere...some days are better than others, depending on the wind direction...

I cannot imagine how bad it is there right now...add the high temps to the smoke too, and it is horrible...keep in mind that most places have no AC, so the windows are open...the average temps this time of year are usually 75 degrees and the temps have been 100 degrees for the last 2 months straight...it is said to be the worst heat wave ever in Russia...
