I beg to differ. This is MY Mustang. I purchased it from Saleen as a GT Premium Chassis about a year ago to do chassis development work for Saleen.
It is a bad axx Mustang and I believe it is faster than any street legal Mustang around a road course. I know both vehicles intimately. I know what they do well and I know what they don't do well.
We are a suspension company. I never wanted to build Supercars. Unfortunately I found that the suspensions we build exceed the capabilities of OE wheels, tires, brakes and RWHP. We could not get to the limits of our suspension without building complete cars. The ONLY things we do not do are install roll cages or weld in braces that would not be found on a OEM chassis. The reason is they alter the harmonics of the vehicle and prevent us from optimising the chassis for street use.
The brakes on the Mustang are plain and simple not as good as the Camaro. The front caliper is almost identical. That said the rear would be more at home on a 1968 Mustang with a floating caliper mounted in rubber. That does not make be a biased Camaro / GM guy. It makes me an honest person with knowledge of both vehicles. I know know more about brakes than I ever wanted to know out of necessity and safety.
Check out the Saleen 'Track Edition' in my FaceBook album.

We just tested BOTH Supercars and I can tell you they are BOTH bad axx FAST. If you want to take your 2011 Mustang with the Brembo upgrade to a road course it will absolutely need an excellent track pad. I had ours custom made by Cobalt Friction. They make only racing brake pads starting with a special high heat resistant backing plate to proprietary compounds. I would recommend them for anyone going to a road course but they are expensive. They must be made of unobtanium.
To put this in perspective, my Pontiac G8 OE pads lasted three sessions of three hot laps and were in the same pathetic condition as the 11 Mustang. Most OE pads will fail when driven fast on a road course. Some faster than others. 1.5 laps for a $1,600 option is below what I would have expected. We got 7 laps out of the brake setup on the 2010.
If this makes me anything but straight up dead nuts fair feel free to flame me.
