2SS/RS - Mustang GT Comparison
Well, actually stopped to look at the Mustang GT today. They didn't have a GT-500. The GT is the closest competitor to the 2SS/RS, so I wanted to check it out.
Let's compare apples to apples here:
HP and times are real close. The GT engine is impressive, but the LS3 is no slouch. I prefer the independent rear of the Chevy, but some reports show the Ford to handle better.
The GT was actually more money for less car. The interior was nice, but some parts feel kinda cheap. I'm guessing to save weight. The sound system blew away GM's Boston system. The leather feels good, but felt a little cramped, although there was more head room than Chevy. Both have USB and IPod connections. The GT had a nice size nav screen and cool little lights to illuminate the door grip. The 2SS's come with ambient lighting in the door panels that is alot more impressive. Both have room in the back seat for a small bag of groceries.
The GT sat on 19's wrapped with Pirrelli. The SS has 20's with the same brand rubber. The GT brakes may work well, but fronts were not painted and the rears brakes were rough cast aluminum, Ford what were you thinking? This makes the car look cheap. The SS has big Brembo's front and rear painted to look as nice as they work. The Ford rear spoiler feels thin and cheap. The side window louvers, hood scoop and the lower side scoops looked pasted on. Oh yeah, That's right..... they were.
The GT was lacking HID headlights included with the SS/RS and the RS halo's give it a distinct look.
OK, let me just say..... GT's sound great. The Camaro seems too quiet.
The GT was $41,000.
Sticker on a loaded 2SS/RS with all factory options except for ground effects and 21's is under $37,000.
I know.... you Mustang guys want to compare the $50,000+ GT-500 to the SS. That's not really apples to apples....... It's just bananas!
