Congrats on the Alienware. I got my Aurora 4/30/2005 and its still around (I don't know why I remember that date, strange!). While I've always built my own PC's (and have a degree in Computer Science!) Alienware at the time had this rebate deal that made it cheaper than if I was to build it myself (It was like $500 rebate + free shipping), so I pulled the trigger and got it. Their support is good and the machines are built and setup well, however mine was missing a cable for the SB Audigy Card, which was included in the box but should have been installed in the PC. Took 2 seconds to fix but glad I checked it.
Anyway if you are looking for a turnkey gaming machine they are nice but a bit overpriced unless you catch a deal. I'm a die hard AMD guy and they no longer sell AMD based computers so I won't be going to them again unless its a smokin deal. I'm overdue for a new Computer, but this one still runs good and handles what I need... However I've been taking a lot of HD video with my Rebel T1i and while I haven't fired up Sony Vegas to manipulate it yet, I have a feeling when I do its gonna go pretty badly.
