I used to go to Jiffy Lube. Then they charged me for replacing the alternator and battery in my wife's car and they didn't replace the battery. I noticed it the next day, and of course, they denied it. I've never been back since. I use the mechanics at the gas station next to my work. I see them every day when I get sodas or whatever there. You should definitely try to use someone you can get to know. These guys have been great and totally honest. There have been a few times where they have recommended that I get some service done and I say "Okay, go ahead." only to have them say that they don't perform that service. You know they're being honest with you if they're not going to make money off of their recommendation.
I would do oil changes myself, but disposing of the old oil is a superior pain in the ass. I don't even know where I could take it around here.
