I am not so sure the transmission is the single limiting factor. I think compression is limiting the amount of boost.
I don't think the M6 in the Mustang is any less stout than the M6 in the Camaro and there are many Camaros pushing more to the wheels than the GT350.
Livernois just announced a new piston/rod package for the 5.0 that will allow upping the boost. (I.E. lower compression option and a higher compression option for the N/A and nitrous crowd.)
