Mechanic is telling me my distributor is loose and throwing a "camshaft position" code. This is on a Vortec 350. I asked him what do you mean it's loose? He just said it's loose. He said I need a new distributor and it's $517. So I said are you saying the gears are worn out or something? He said yes the gears are worn (I pictured Jon Levits here...."yeah, the gears...that's the ticket!").

I have a sinking feeling the distributor just needs to be tightened. What should I do?
