I'd say that I'm more of a dork than a nerd, but whatever fits I guess...
I played years ago but got out of it a little after Ice Age hit. I ever only had about 2 expensive cards but could always manage to put together some pretty wicked decks. Eventually, the others that I played with starting getting too serious about the game and were throwing a ton of money into it. Then they would get pissed when I tore up their decks worth hundreds with mine that cost about $30.
So, I traded all of my cards for a used PC (IBM 386 w/ 40mHz processor!!!) Maybe I lost out financially with the trade, but I learned a ton about computers from that beast. I can't say that I regret the trade, but MTG was/is a very fun and addictive game.
