My take on BMW 3 series vehicles is that they've lost a little something every time they've grown. The 1 series is about the size of a 3 series 15 years ago and I like the 1 series much better because of it.
The BMW is a sharp looking car, but it's sharp looking the way a nice suit is sharp looking. You think 'nice suit' and you don't give it a second thought.
BMW's are clearly competent cars though so I don't begrudge someone for liking them over a Camaro. I get upset when you get to the 'car-as-appliance' segment of the market. No one gets emotionally invested in a Camry so why would you choose a Camry over it's American Counterpart.
