Very true... While the Challenger R/T is not a good match for the new 5.0 Mustang at the dragstrip, it
is a good performing modern musclecar! And although the new Mustang is not as well styled as the Challenger IMO, it still is a nice looking modern pony car... in fact better looking IMO than the more retro one that it replaced.
In my opinion, the Challenger is a better "all around" car... capable of carrying four normal sized adults in comfort, better ride, good gas mileage with the MDS system, well sized trunk... with great styling, high 13 second straight line performance, nice handling, and 135+ MPH top speed.
I have not tried to see how well the new Mustang "fits" me, but the previous one effectively did not have a usable rear seat... it was more like a padded package shelf. For an every day driver it might work fine, I rarely have more than one passenger ride with me. With kids or on a long trip the rear seat would have been a problem... maybe the current Mustang has more rear seat space? I have thought about getting a new V6 Mustang as a daily driver... might still do it one day.
Well, those are just my thoughts on the choice you face... how about a "Furiously Fuscia"' colored Challenger R/T for your wife?
