They pick up for a hundred miles and police do not call out their position on the radio for traffic stops unless he has a runner. Also the majority of what is said on the radio now-a-days is codes so unless your NAED certified or a police officer you will only know a few codes and will not know any new ones. For example if you was driving and heard a unit call out that he's got a 22350 do you know what he means?
