You still have to pay tax if you import a vehicle, and there are US taxes that you have to pay when you buy too. The exchange rate is another 4% loss right now and it won't be much different for quite a while. Plus, you can't just go and buy a new car from the US either (though there are ways around that, usually it involves buying far away from the border, which adds more cost). When you add it all up, there isn't much that could be saved by getting a Challenger, even SRT8, from the US. More expensive vehicles that start over $60k CAD on the other hand make a more sense. But the SRT8 is listed within about 10% of its US price (compared to 20 or 30% for some other cars) so it seems like they did a pretty good job on the Canadian pricing of 47k MSRP (they don't control the taxes on top of that ... )
