He has changed the perception from bad to good, he had done a better job than the older CEOs of the company.

Yeah, but it's just like in football, if the team does well, it's because of the team, if they tank it's all the fault of the coach.
It doesn't matter what he's done in the past, how well he's improved the overall reputation of the company or even that the sales slump was caused by a credit crunch far beyond his ability to control. The company is in trouble so obviously it's the fault of the CEO.
