I understand. I do realize drag racing is way more popular than autocrossing or tracking. But the Camaro is actually better suited for a roadrace car than a drag car.I will tell you drag racing is a hole lot more stressful on the power train that doing a track day. The only exception would be brakes and tires.

We see lots of data on skid pad testing. This is a great test that should not be all inclusive. It is just one of many to test a ride. The real challenge, and we have seen this first hand, some of the articles that have done skid pad testing, have in fact done it on a really poor surface, that is full of loose debri. There is not a standard for all the magazines to do this. I have seen close to a .4g variation from one article to another on the same car. That large amount is not the car, but the track or road surface and driver skill.

With all the hard work guys do to get hps up for hopefully lower ETs, most do not look at the entire picture. I can easily see where a 500rear hp Camaro, when not driven well, may have slower ETs that a stock SS, using the same driver. So much money and emphasis is put into hp, and sometime non of it is put into improving the efficiency of your suspension, that can be updated for a hole lot less money than adding 100hp to the the ground.

but drag racing is fun. You can go to a drag race night and get 4-5 runs. So you are actually running less than 2 minutes. Go to a auto cross that is a 2 minute coarse, and after 2-3 laps, you are tired. Go to a track day and run 5-6 laps, and you have had a full day.

For my background, I enjoy the autocrossing, which the Camaro will do very well up against the Mustangs,
