It obviously depends on how much you use the gas motor, which uses a 7 gallon tank that will get 350 miles per tank. So around 50 mpg if you never use the batteries only. (The volt actually always powers the wheels with the batterires whether using the gas "generator" or not.)

Now if you get a full charge every night that's 40 miles a day for free. And lets say you drive another 10 on gas everyday.

You would get 35 days of driving with no fill ups. So, 35 days at 50 miles per day gets you 1,750 miles per one tank of gas. for a whopping 250 miles per gallon. Again, assuming you get a full charge on the batteries every night.

Beautiful isn't it.
