From what I've read, US power sources are about 50% coal, 20% natural gas, 2% petroleum, 7% Hydro, and about 20% Nuclear, 1% other. Roughly.

Oops. Yeah, you are more or less right. I was thinking about the 50% coal and then forgot about 20% natural gas. But those gas plants mostly operate during peak power usage. Nuclear and coal operate at roughly the same output all day long. So recharging at 10 pm is greener than recharging at 5pm.
