I think we need to be open-minded to the possibility of calling an import a pony car. In a market that has had some support for the classic American car, foreign companies are trying to match that American car feel. Many enthusiasts won't tolerate a FWD import, so they're trying to build cars that will beat many of America's classic domestic pony cars. If we're going to call the 1967 Camaro a pony car, maybe we need to include in that class cars like the new Genesis.

In order to call the Genesis a pony car, we need to define what a pony car is. Apparently, it must be RWD; it clearly isn't exclusive to the V8 because the V6 Camaro is also a pony car; pony cars apparently have to be 2-door coupes; the torque number hasn't always been more or close to the horsepower number, so that doesn't really matter; it doesn't have to be a top performer since some of America's best performers were pretty mediocre due to initial CAFE regulations. Basically, what I'm saying is that the definition of a pony car may include some imports, and we car enthusiasts need to be open-minded to including other cars in this class.
