Wow, valve springs breaking? Are these interference engines? If they are, I'd assume that would mean complete internal self destruction when this happens. (Man Toyota seems to have a lot of engine problems).

Ha Ha. I read recently that the new LaCrosse has by itself lowered the average age of a Buick buyer from 72 to 65. (So now the average Buick buyer is now just retired, not dead).

Oh, and btw, I haven't even mentioned the 1.3 million GM compacts recalled for power steering failures. You're taking a turn at 50mph when suddenly you lose power steering...Yea, you get the idea. And yes, people did crash due to this

No one here has said that American cars have not been without (a sometimes extensive) list of problems. What we are pointing out is that Toyota is not perfect, which is contrary to what many people seem to blindly have faith in despite clear evidence proving otherwise. (I've said it before and I'll say it again, Toyota's "reputation" is actually more of a religion).

Just check your rear view mirror often. Parts have been known to fall off Tundras. (Not small parts either). And hopefully you didn't get the 5.7L (those have been known to break cam shafts).
