It was my understanding that the '3000 hp' engine of the Veyron is actually a result of the heat generated by the engine, based on the fact that internal combustion engines are usually around 33% efficient. So to generate 1000 hp mechanical hp, there is 2000 hp of heat generated. By the same logic, the LS3 produces around 1275 hp.

By the way, I like the SSC better but I wouldn't want either car. Ultra expensive cars don't do much for me. I'd rather dream about something I could actually afford.
