Dodge is really shooting themselves in the foot by focusing their upgrades on the the SE and SRT-8. The R/T attracts the most interest, but is underpowered so most enthusiasts don't give it a second glance. If it had 400-hp on paper with an upgraded interior, I think it could give GM and Ford a run for their money.

It's a real shame too. The Chally has some of the sexiest lines of any recent production car from any major automotive manufacturer. It's sad that Dodge doesn't seem to want to be as invested in the pony wars as much as Ford and GM.

IMO what should have happened:

  • R/T gets the 6.1 from the outgoing SRT8; 5.7 is dropped; price remains the same.
  • SRT8 gets a 6.4 525+HP motor and improved suspension to compete with the GT500 and Z/28. Pricing is in-line with the GT500 and Z/28.
Those were literally my exact thoughts.
