CNN now has a "Gulf Oil Leak tracking" counter permanently on their front page.
According to them, that tracker is saying the leak is one barrel every 2 seconds, or 1,200,000 barrels a month. (see

It sure is interesting why they feel they need to post this info to the general public when this disaster is actually a national security issue that does not involve us. For some reason they want the general joe shmo public to have this info, as if later on when they number reaches 5,000,000 barrels, NO one will be surprised when people in the south states are forced to evacuate. This is comical to me. That chart on their front page pretty much proves they are trying to SELL something that probably is not true. They also do not site any kind of scientific reference as to where they are getting that oil flowrate information, or what independent firm measured it, or explained even HOW they could measure this when the leaks are in more than one place. What about the amount of oil they are able to salvage? Ha all the scare tactics. Talk about desperate. But AT LEAST they are posting this so you are very, very warned that something is coming later on and you won't be able to do anything about it. This is just a friendly warning, which i have to say, I do appreciate that. Glad I don't live down there. It would not surprise me if the "south" decides to rise again when they start going door to door and telling you your land no longer belongs to you anymore. this is going to get interesting. You'll see guys walking around with gas masks acting like all the air is toxic, or the water supply, etc. You will be forced to leave.
