MUCH easier said than done...they would have had to do all the development and validation tests for TWO powertrain combos (if not more) in the time span of one...just to have it ready in time to counter...that means the car would have had to be released even later..........

Ford did not answer the 2010 Camaro. There wasn't time. "They prepared an answered in anticipation of the 2010 Camaro" would be more accurate to say.

No doubt work began on this new engine right after the concept Camaro was released with an advertised 400 hp...and any bum could have seen that the weakest powerplant GM could have put into the Camaro back in 2006 was the LS2 out of the Corvette (even in '08 it was the 361hp L76 from the G8)...so they answered THAT. Don't let yourself believe that Ford was able to "answer fast, and GM can't"....
