Looks like we are in a conundrum, because I had a 91LX notch and never lost to any tuned port F-body so long as the road was straight. This includes my brothers old 5.7L GTA which never could quite hang with me. The only third gen f-body I ever had trouble with stock was the anniversary turbo T/A, that car made me look like I was standing still, but I only ran across one of those during the time I owned the 5.0L although I had several different tries at his car.

THis is one of the few areas where most muscle guys seem to agree in my experience. With the exception of a few years where the advantage/disadvantage was obvious it is simply too tough to tell.

I don't doubt they are under-rated, and I've seen them on the dyno, but IMHO they aren't the 475hp at the crank cars some seem to think they are. In my experience most folks use too generous of a correction factor on most modern cars and a little under-rating from the factory sometimes becomes exagerrated.
