First of all, im new to the forum and so this is my first post. My name is Dave and im a huge fan of all things chevy/camaro. I dont currently own a fifth gen, but i do own an 87 Firebird with more than a few mods haha.

Anyways back on topic. For the last two weeks GM has been doing what they call a vehicle advocate program where basically they let their employees drive Gm and competitors' vehicles. Since my uncle is an engineer at the Tech center I was able to attend on both monday and saturday and I was able to drive both the 2010 Camaro and the 2011 mustang 5.0. And so here are my impressions.

First let me just say that the Camaro is one beautiful car both inside and out. Pictures just dont do it justice; you have to see it in person to appreciate it. The interior is awesome especially with the two tone seats. The seats were surprisingly comfy and the dash was pretty cool looking. Yes it does have limited visibility but you forget it once you hammer the throttle. And when you do the SS gets up and goes pretty damn good. It pulled harder than i expected it to. One thing i noticed was that the auto/L99 seemed lazy when you floored it. Its just didnt pull nearly as hard as the ls3. Im not sure why but you could definitely tell the difference. I think maybe it wasnt downshifting to first, but even when we floored it from a dead stop it still didnt pull as hard as the ls3. (Not because of the power difference. Either something was wrong with both auto cars i drove, or the auto/L99 is just not tuned right in stock form)

The ls3 though was a blast to drive. It pulled hard and sounded 10 times better than the L99. It was almost like a totally different car. All in all I was extremely impressed with the SS, and be warned: if you drive one, you will want one really bad lol.

Now for the mustang. I was a little surprised by the 5.0 also. It pulls pretty hard! In my opinion it does not pull like the ls3, but it def pulled harder than the L99's that i drove. This really is going to be close on the streets, but those of use that drovve both agreed that the ls3 cars will take the 5.0. Now the 5.0 we drove was an auto unfortunately, but it didnt seem lazy like the camaro auto. I dont see the manual being any faster than the auto stang, unless you are a damn good shifter. With same level drivers, the ls3 is probably going to win. Let the flaming begin, but unless youve drove both dont come on here saying how the 5.0 is going to own the SS blah blah weight difference blah. Make no mistake about it, this is going to be a drivers race.

And about the stangs styling, in my opinion its just not as sharp as the camaro. Its not ugly, but i think the camaro has the better look. I will say the seats are really nice. Didnt like the dash very much. Exterior wise, didnt like the rear end, but the front is ok. All in all its a nice car though. Looks are jsut a matter of opinion though. And finally the mustang is going to put up a fight without forced induction.

In conclusion, these two pony cars are the real deal. You really cant go by what any of the magazines say. Your best bet would be to test drive both and see for your self. These are definitely exciting times for us car lovers as right now there are two very even and very awesome cars available to choose from. Sorry about the long post but if anyone else has any impressions of both cars feel free to post em up.
