I think that part of the reason it doesn't look that great is that the Corvette ZR1 really outperforms its price bracket. By keeping up with cars double its value, the ZR1 really makes it hard to make a car close to its price seem appropriate by comparison. The GT-R is a good deal for the money, but it just isn't that great when Nissan advertises it as being an alternative to some of the top-tier cars out there. It's still a good car, but it's not on the same level as cars it was designed to beat, probably because it turns out to not beat them.
