MAP and MAF are two different TYPES of sensor, not dependant on age or car company. To this day, different manufacturers/models perfer different meterings. MAP (simply put) measure the pressure of the air inside the manifold to determine how much air is moving in to the engine.
MAF has the air actually pass through an array of wires that react to the flow of air and produce a voltage represetning volume to the ECU.
