If you're new to handguns, Glock may not be the way to go. I have a Glock 22 mil-spec (.40) and I love it to death. But the lack of a safety can become an issue for people that don't carry often.
I have two Kimber Customs (Eclipse II and Covert II) and they're amazing. Both are .45 and the Covert II (my conceal) has a laser sight. I think they would be better for most because you have a safety on it, which will give you peace of mind.
I also have a Desert Eagle .44 Mag, but that's a little big to carry around, it's more of a conversation piece then anything...lol.
