If she really wants to learn handgun, go spend a couple hundred bones on a Buckmark .22 or similar. This way she can learn the basics of sight picture, trigger squeeze, etc without the recoil. And ammo is much cheaper, so she can plink all day long and you don't need a 2nd mortgage. LOL.
Although the 22c doesn't really kick at all, and the bang of the .40 is much more satisfying than the pop of a .22.

I would take your word for it. I KNOW you know what you're talking about. I would much rather the .40 over the .22 personally. Hell, I could just buy her a small .22 of her own.
