Yeah, that was a let down. I was reading the article thinking "What's the big deal?" Then read the part about it not being an engine package.


Really though, I think the GT500 doesn't need it. We've already seen what that engine is capable of in the GT500KR and the Super Snake. 540hp and 600hp respectably. Apparently the Super Snake can even be upped to 700hp but with that you sacrifice a warranty, which it's amazing to believe they even offer it on the 600hp super snake. The downside to either of those cars being that the price makes a huge jump from 42-44k for a 500hp version to like 70-80k for 540hp. I guess the exclusivity is something. From what I remember, Road and Track couldn't even get the Super Snake to break into the 11s because it had no grip owing to it's 275 series tires. Which are actually 10 milimeters narrower than the standard GT500's.
