The 6.2L weighs more than the 5.0L, but physical size of the block wasn't nearly the issue that the cubes were. A 5.8L version of the 6.2L Boss was the planned engine for Mustang duty prior to the fuel economy and CAFE changes we are now all too familiar with. After that it was just too thirsty to justify and we ended up with the 5.0L.
