I have also tested this theory. Dude can be riding comfortably behind me in the middle lane for ten miles with no one else in sight, opportunity to move left and pass at any time if he wants to go faster, but just sits there.
Until I move into the right lane getting ready for my exit, at which point dude
will accelerate as much as necessary to go by me, whether I stay at 65 or ramp up to 85+.
