This is not a socialist acquisition. This is a loan request.
We live in the United States. We aren't communists or socialists. We support a democratic government in what is technically a mixed economy, featuring occasional government involvement in an otherwise capitalistic system. If the government actually does loan money to Detroit's automakers, it will be far less involvement than the rest of the world in the economy. It's amazing that people don't see that every developed country has injected money into the market, but Americans seem to believe that we'll turn communist if we offer loans, not bailouts. I don't think there's anything more capitalistic than offering money on a temporary basis with interest added. It is ridiculous and misinformed to call this anything other than capitalist and perhaps protectionist by nature.
