I would suggest you advise them to go to a different set of scales. Even if we use the slightly heavier 2007 and newer GT, a manual transmission coupe wont hit 3500lb loaded even in fully loaded trim and I have seen countless Mustang's both on the scales and on the dyno. In fact, weird European standards used by companies like BMW aside, in my experience the Mustang is one of only two performance cars on the market today which typically actually weighs a little less than what the factory claims...the other is the Vette. Although the situation with the Vette could have changed since, with respect to the Chevy, it has been a few years since I have spent much time around those cars.

Although a direct injected version of the new 5.0L is coming, the 400+hp 5.0L slated for the 2011GT will use run of the mill PFI.
