I doubt that. Once people realize that replacement batteries will cost $3000 at a whack, they'll shy away quickly. How long have you ever had a rechargeable battery last?
Economy sucks = people don't buy things = big three don't sell cars and were in the middle of an expensive restructuring = big three is HUGE trouble.
Why can we not blame the economy? It has everything to do with their CURRENT situation.....

Because GM was losing billions of dollars a quarter
BEFORE the economy tanked. "Bailing" them out won't stop the fact that they were already losing money to begin with.
