Your deposit isnt with GM. It is with the independent dealer. So if the dealer is still in business then your money is safe. But if the dealer goes down with GM (which is likely) then you need to get in line with the rest of the creditors.

Side Bar: GM isnt going anywhere. They are too big of a staple of our economy for the government to let fold.
