Lutz, finally, put a bullet in the head of that notion. Bancruptcy, hopefully, buried it... No one can simply ignore "anything from anywhere, anymore"... And Chinese and Korean investment/production are the current living proof of that... Without them, GM and others are DONE!
BTW, avoiding non-North American developed product should have some rethinking their Camaros... Australia is its own continent...

You have made my point almost entirely, so thank you for saving me a lot of work. (though responding within the quote to prevent me from directly responding to the response was a nice touch, I admit). One part did stand out. Do you really believe that Toyota's throttle problem was caused by American industry, and not by Toyota? Like I posted earlier Toyota's marketers have created a religion, not just a reputation.
For what its worth, I generally don't put much stock into JD Power ratings. 3 years is nowhere near enough time to gauge long term reliability and the fact that it is coming from a company that sells its reviews to the producers of the products it is reviewing makes it questionable anyway.
It is also a flawed comparison, because only listing number of problems says nothing of the severity of the problems. For example, in such a study, a rattle in the door carries equal weight to such issues as parts falling off vehicle, a structural integrity problem, or throttles getting stuck wide open.
