All of my dogs were always free to roam wherever they wanted to go. As for the reason they just don't come back one day is most likely because it wandered to a different farm, caused some mistchief, and got shot. And if thats the case then he deserved it. If someone elses dog comes around and gets in with the livestock and starts runnin em around makin em lose weight (and in effect making me lose money) I have no problems putting it down.

To run over an animal and not take it to the vet is considered animal cruelty in many states, as it should be. If you can't afford it don't have it. Just like kids. People that are that careless about animals, usually are not the most caring toward people either. 9 out of 10 Serial killers abused animals as children................I am just saying.

I have never once abused any of my animals. Just can't justify paying someone to do something I can do myself.

As with cars, houses, children and just about anything in life; they all come with responsibility, maintenance and problems. I understand some people just don't have the money when their animal needs a 1000$ surgery when they come in my clinic. Yet, it's hard for me to have sympathy when they aren't even trying at all.

Dogs never go hungary around here...if they don't get enough dog food then there is dead cattle or sheep they can go eat, which they do....and thats their natural food and probably get more nutrients from that than any dry dog food could give them.
We keep dogs around for different reasons than you city folk. They aren't so much pets as they are insurance. Have 4 Great Pyranese as guard dogs....they would never hurt a human, but they kill any coyote that comes around lookin for an easy supper.
Regardless of what you may think of me for not really caring too much if my dogs live or die, I take good care of them. Had the best golden retriever ever for 9 years. I'd even consider it my friend. Then one day he took 2 of the females and disappeared. Ever since I don't get too attatched to the dogs.
