I don't recommend starting with a 250cc bike. Not sure how the laws are up North, but we can take a Motorcycle Safety Foundation course and use their 250cc bikes, and get your license directly when done. Not sure how big you are, but you'll outgrow a 250cc in a week! IMO, go sit on lots of different bikes and get a feel. You're better off with a 650CC or 750cc - won't kill you at the twist of the throttle, but room to grow...
