True story. It's one of the biggest secrets in the state right now. It's boggling my mind that it's not national news, but I guess that's because the fines ONLY APPLY TO RESIDENTS OF VIRGINIA.
So a MD driver (the worst of any I've seen in my travels) can be raping every law imaginable and just get little tickets here and there.
A VA resident can not use his turn signal and get the $1050 fine stated above, it's unfortunately very true. It's the daily hot topic here in my office. It was coined "civil penalties" and they didn't tell us about it until literally the week it went to legislation. Then to counter the backlash they (Gov & company) said it was designed for "repeat offenders"...but oops, they left the part out of the bill (we printed the whole ****ing thing out and read it over the course of 3 days in here) that protects a first-time offender. The initial penalty is only part of the story, there's a lot more to it...including having an R-rated movie visible from outside the vehicle costing you $1300 or so over the course of 3 years.
