This would be awesome to have on GM products. The key here to Chrysler being able to offer this is that the 'lifetime' warranty is non transferrable. Most people who can afford to buy a brand new car put themselves in a position to buy another brand new car within 5-7 years, if not sooner. It's the 2nd and 3rd owners that would benefit from this and the warranty will not apply to them.
The small population of new vehicles that are retained by their original owners for 10+ years would most likely be well maintained with low mileage. These vehicles would probably never require an engine, transmission or differential.
With all that said, it still would be pretty cool to have on GM products. Imagine blowing up the motor in your 2009 Camaro in the year 2030 and bringing it back to the dealership for a warranty replacement!!!
