CANNOT effectively compare one family of cylinder heads to another and bring up port volume. It is 100% irrelevant, unless the 2 cylinder heads have exactly the same length from the intake sealing area to the valve opening. Imagine a cylinder head that was 2 feet wide feeding a 350 chevy. The intake port is the diameter of a quarter (think paper towel tube) but 1.75 feet long. The head would have an enormous 375cc intake port. How do you think it would flow compared to a 227cc AFR head? You can compare minimum cross-sectional area. That is what matters. That is the pinch point that dictates a lot of the flow (not to mention the valve pinch point, lol) Having more valves is almost always a good thing.
