Really? This is based on what exactly? The problem here is that the only Zeta platform-mate the Camaro has in America right now, the G8, isn't under-rated in terms of weight. GM claims just over 3900lb for a base G8 GT IIRC. I have never seen or heard of a real world G8 GT every coming in any lighter than ~50lb heavier than GM's claimed base curb weight for the car. Nothing about that infers sand-bagging on GM's part or gives us any reason to believe GM's numbers are pessimistic.

fresh off the 'fordvehicles.com' website, just built a loaded Mustang GT.

GT folks, that means the same hp as our V6.

3787lbs, 43k. seriously? No wonder they wont sell.
A Mustang GT can be that expensive and that heavy, if it is a fully loaded GT/CS automatic convertible. SO exactly how much is a loaded Camaro SS convertible with the slushbox going to weigh in at? With a base auto SS tripping the scales over 3900lb according to GM, and a loaded 2SS coupe no doubt busting the 4k pound mark, a loaded, 2SS convertible is going to go waaayyy over 4klb.

So, the basis for your argument is that a loaded Mustang GT vert would weigh in at just about what a base SS coupe with the auto trans does if you added 200lb to it? I'll make this simpler for you, no matter what trim level you compare, assuming you compare similar trim levels of course.....like a coupe to a coupe......the Mustang is going to weigh in at several hundred pounds less than a comparable Camaro does.

A 2005 Mustang GT weighs about 3540lb in base trim according to Ford. Add a little less than 100lb to that, which is about what the 2011 will gain, and you are sitting within sniffing distance of 3600lb. Real world, were looking at 300lb of difference between these two cars.

And since a loaded Camaro 2SS coupe can easily top 40k, and by no small margin, I have to wonder what a loaded 2SS vert will cost. Realistically we are probably talking about a number very close to 50k.
