The politics section is dead. That means that political slander has to stop, too. Despite my political tendencies, I have not posted a single comment regarding politics since the end of that section. I really wouldn't test site leadership when it comes to controversy or the rules right now.
The proper term for linguistic studies is African American English. It derives from major rural dialects in the southern United States and has spread to various socio-economic groups but tends to be most prevalent in racial urban communities with a large black population. This is generally best explained by the shared heritage of black Americans during the slaving part of American history.
No—I did not study linguistics. My studies focussed almost exclusively in the the Department of Political Science. I did, however, date a girl who was a linguistics major.
