It probably is sitting higher than a civilian Taurus. Generally police cars have stiffer suspensions and increased ground clearence for manuevers such as jumping curb, etc. I had a 97 CVPI and it was a totally dfferent experience from any other Crown Vic, I know they had additional welds in the frame, additional ground clearance, a special suspension sans air springs. That car would corner EXTREMELY flat, like zero body roll, handling wise it felt a lot lighter than it was. Engine wise, not so much, best I ever got was a 16.1@83 which was considered a quick time for a Vic. I am sure the Taurus should see a similar difference between it's civilian stablemates. That said, I would still pick the Caprice or Charger as the RWD platforms seem to take the abuse better than FWD based vehicles.
