Correct me if I'm wrong guys but this is my thought on RAM-Air. I've never been formally taught but here's my theory:
Picture a gaping hole where one of your headlights is, which is a hose going directly to your intake manifold. The faster you go, the more air is pushed directly into the manifold. As opposed to the manifold sucking air from the surrounding area. It's just a way to direct air to your intake.
Like the mustang has that functional hood scoop on the higher end models. It acts as a deflector to force air down into the air filter. Or on older cars, down into the carb.
