Unconscionable position for Toyota to have put themselves in. Not huge fan of their cars. Definitely some kind of an EMI issue and/or software strategy issue. I can't figure out the whole floor mat thing. That makes no sense at all. That is an instant high score on a DFMEA and would have been prevented by any fifth grader who knows how to conduct design FMEA's. That is why floor mats are pinned today. Can't even figure out the EMI thing either. That system should be bullet proof against EMI. Drive by wire systems are not new and making them "unintended acceleration proof" has always been the NUMBER 1 goal in designing any production system. That $1M from Edmunds is going to get taken by somebody with access to an EMI chamber...
