Wow... 20 years ago I was driving pretty much that exact car. A 1981 Dodge Colt -- it was even the same color as the one you posted. I think the only difference between them was the badge.
Mine had the 4-speed manual with "twin stick" (effectively an 8-speed if you were willing to do a lot of rowing), and the "MCA Jet" engine
Believe it or not, it was a very fun car to drive. I think it weighed about 1500 lbs, and had manual steering, brakes, windows, etc.
Now back to the topic at hand. Kudos to those Ford guys for achieving 300+ horses and 31 mpg. That's sweating the details!
