I've heard that Porsche is expected to be hammered pretty hard by the new CAFE laws, worse than most other sports or luxury automakers. There is a 'footprint' scaling factor, where small cars are held to a higher limit than large cars. Since most Porsche's have a relatively small footprint, the 35 mpg average will be closer to 40. Because of this, I see them seriously pursuing either this or similar cars.
