You were not in the development meetings, I suspect...
There are many, MANY factors to consider from an OEM standpoint that makes reducing weight a helluva lot more complex than just.....removing the mufflers, for instance. Weight was a high priority for the team, because it effects
everything: Fuel economy, acceleration, handling, cost (indirectly), etc. They DID manage to remove about 150lbs from a comparable G8 (the only other car in NA on a similar platform.)....so to pretend they didn't care about it is kind of silly.
I'd also like to point out that even the M3 weighs 3700lbs, and it's a smaller vehicle using exotic materials.
